As a child your parents buy health insurance for you, but they DON’T have to, it is their choice. If you fell ill your family SHOULD pay for the service you recieved
My hang up on welfare families is that welfare is SUPPOSED to be a temporary solution until the person can find gainful employment. But the people I’ve seen and worked with on welfare CHOOSE to take the easy way out and let the government coddle them.
MrLuvtofly – your views are so naive, I was going to blast you and say “what are you, 12?” when I checked your profile and saw you’re 16.
Kid, you have a lot to learn.
Yes, we make our choices, and some are more capable than others. What if you were born poor and handicapped? Should you be denied an education? A chance to make it?
Whether you see it as a right, ALL OUR PEERS have national health. We should, too, and not at the cost of subsidizing ins. co’s and big pharma. peace.
megaman4life – “healthcare is not a right, it is a privlege, something… people must WORK to obtain.” So – as a child, did you work for food? What if you fell ill? How about if you’re born autistic, or with cerebral palsy?
We are not animals, letting the young and old die if they fall ill.
All our peers insure their citizens. We should, too.
And what’s with your hangup on welfare families? Do you know the real statistics? Yes, some abuse ANY system, but the majority do not.
jmw102667 – fine, It’s not a right. However, ALL our industrial peers have a national health system, covering ALL. The Republicans and greed pigs (ins. co’s, big pharma, etc.) should be ashamed they have passed off their brainwashing as “individual rights”, and self sufficiency or whatever. They fought Medicare, for gods sake. We actually have the poor subsidizing the rich in the USA, not the other way around. Read “Distributive Injustices in American Health Care” if ya don’t believe me.
Oh, yeah, I understand that. I just don’t think that it has to get so pointed, you know? I mean, if people could just break it down like that, I would appreciate their arguments, but when they rip on the handicapped or say things like that, it just makes them sound ignorant and kind of evil, instead of like they are presenting a valid point.
But thanks. I understand what you mean.
If you work in the U.S. [legally] right now, you are already paying for someone else’s healthcare, you see that FICA tax deduction on your pay statement? Yeah, that’s socialism for you, I don’t hear anyone 65 and older complaining about their Medicare, do you?? The Consititution doesn’t say alot of things, but remember, it was written more than 200 years ago, when they used to burn “witches” at the stake if they were able to swim once thrown into a lake.
The government [agencies & authorities] cannot physically force you to do anything you don’t want to do, BUT they can fine you and/or throw you in jail. Same thing when you get a parking ticket, if you don’t pay it, you go to jail, the government [agency] is forcing you to pay something, this is not a “new” idea or concept, has been around a very long time. Everyone should have health insurance, assuming it’s affordable of course, everyone gets sick someday right? Unless your immortal.
Damn… well said. As a Christian, I can only think of Jesus walking around the shores of Galilee, picking people up, and before he heals them he says, “What kind of insurance do you have?” and if they say they don’t have any, then he says “Sorry, but I can’t take care of you, at least if you were covered through Roman Cross/Roman Shield, maybe I could squeeze you in between the blind guy and the leper, but I can’t work for free, sorry!” That’s the Status Quo Holy Bible version, LoL
I think what MrLuv is getting at is personal resposibility. The government is not meant to be a nanny that is supposed to take care of you forever. Like it or not we the United States of America are a land of the free, free to make our up our own minds. It is not the government’s job to tell us what to buy.
Also there is a little thing called the US constitution that prohibits the government from forcing the people to buy anything.
I’m not going to thoroughly watch a video if you try and distract my thoughts with music as it is your already talking too fast to get your point effectively across.
All you’ve managed to do is make me not watch the whole thing, but 20 seconds of it. Bye..
I respect your opinion, but if you take the time to read your comment and think it over, you just might realize that what you said was a little insensitive. Why wouldn’t health care be a right? I don’t understand that point.
I strongly disagree with the idea that health care is a right. The constitution does not say that at all!! Another thing, life is not always fare, some people are born with handicaps, but does it mean that we should be forced to pay for their care? Some people are stupid and spend all their money, does that mean the government should reward them with free food and health care?
steelersX01: I like the way you talk (said like Carl Childers). This bill certainly does have an unpresidented number of bribes and “inducements”. There really are no blue-dog democrats; only democrats holding out for a pay-off. Regarding my “juvenile” comment: Proponents of Marxist pilosophy are such because they are concerned only with obtaining what they desire with little thought as to who’s responsible for providing it. Like a child. A very dangerous, nation-destroying child.
Cheers.
NO, it’s not juvenile…..it’s the way of the demonrats! I am just wondering who the next 100+ million dollar bribe recipient will be to pass this BS bill!?
The Constitution states that it is our right to have and carry firearms. Does this mean that the FED should support every American with a firearm? I am sick to death of paying for somebody elses needs. Stand on your own two feet and take care of yourself…and if you can’t do that….DON’T BRING CHILDREN INTO THE WORLD THAT THE COMMUNITY HAS TO PAY FOR AND RAISE!!
BostonRocker51- The wisdom or Dr. King not withstanding, health care is not a “moral right”. If you claim to have this kind of right, who then is obligated to supply it to you? Society? Society consists of INDIVIDUALS who have the right to LIVE THEIR LIVES FOR THEIR OWN SAKE. Your fellow citicens are not slaves; waiting for the gov to appropriate their wealth for others. Their lives belong to themselves! This notion of claiming the RIGHT to someone elses earnings is juvenile.
steelersX01 – clearly I could insult you back, but why bother? Consider what Martin Luther King Jr. said: “Of all the forms of inequality, injustice in healthcare is the most shocking and inhumane.”
In this rich society, I think it’s a MORAL RIGHT to have health care, just as our safety is a “right”, and our police and fire depts protect us, paid with taxpayer dollars.
We need what ALL our peers have – fair and low cost health care, w/ no giveaways to ins co’s and pharma!!!
Catastrophic healthcare should be guaranteed, but not for free. Govt can control costs, as mrpig says, but it is by controlling treatment, meds, limiting procedures etc. This is definately cost cutting, but not life saving. Many people that use ER rooms for healthcare are illegal, but we welcome them and treat them despite violating immigration law. Tens of Millions more will come under coverage with this plan, and hundreds of Millions will get rationed care. No legitimate math can make it work.
I hate to tell you this vlog, but healthcare is not a right, it is a privlage, it is something that people must WORK to obtain. You can’t just sit on the sidewalk and expect handouts to support you. You must WORK to support yourself. That is why I’m disgusted with 4th adn 5th generation welfare families. They are the leeches on society that don’t need to be covered if they choose to give themselves diabetes by gorging on McDonalds and expecting uncle sam to take care of them.
Our rights are innate to us by virtue of our humanity. No one or entity can supply them to us. If you claim to have a right that creates in others an obligation; guess what, it’s not a right. Health care is no exception. Nationalized health care makes some people slaves in order to subsidize the sloth of others. Simply because one claims to have a need, does not entitle them to lay claim to someone elses wealth, livelihood or life. This notion is unjust and antithetical to liberty.
